Following their success in the Girls' Tug of War competition at last week's Buckingham Country Show, the girls went through to the South East Area round at the South of England Show, Ardingly, where a combined team from Buckingham YFC and Princes Risborough YFC took part against Oxfordshire. Pulling in the main ring in front of thousands of spectators, the girls powered to an early lead, after winning the first end. Being the best of three, the second end was crucial - win and they'd be through to the National Final at the Royal Berkshire Show; lose and it would go to a decider.
The second end proved a lot tougher, with Oxfordshire holding the early efforts. Both teams managed to take a few inches, before the Bucks girls found their rhythm and slowly edged backwards, before the umpire raised his hand to signal Bucks as the winners. To the Royal Berkshire Show in September they go, to compete against the other area winners from across England and Wales. Well done girls!
