An Amazing Night at the New Years Eve Ball

A fantastic night was had by all at Buckingham YFC's first annual New Year's Eve Ball.

Members of YFC clubs from far and wide came out in force to celebrate New Year's Eve at the clubs Fire and Ice Ball. Guests enjoyed a canape and champagne reception, dancing to some banging tunes, publishing their new years eve resolutions on the 'Resolution Board' and bringing the New Year in with friends and laughter.

The Ball raised just under £5,000 for local charities, a big thanks goes to everybody who came and made the night a runaway success and to the committee and club for helping organise the event.
We hope to see you this year for what is promising already to be a fantastic evening. Keep checking here (opens new window) for details.

Oh no they didn't... Oh yes they did!

Members of Buckingham YFC have set the stage alight in the Bucks Federation of Young Farmers Clubs production of Jack and the Beanstalk. The laugh out loud performance had the audience crying with laughter as vice chairman of the club, Matt Warren, gave a hilarious performance as the feisty Dame Trott wearing some fairly stunning make-up and rather large bloomers! Other members of the club also made up members of the chorus and took on other starring roles.

The cast's enthusiasm and dedication has got them through to the Southern Regional Semi-Finals, to be held in the Play House Theatre in Weston Super-Mare, which has a capacity of over 600 on Sunday 25th March. We wish everyone involved the best of luck – break a leg!

Buckingham YFC members pull Christmas Parade float for charity

ast Saturday, Buckingham Young Farmers' Club once again took part in the Buckingham Christmas Parade, but this year with a different slant on the traditional float.

Having entered a float every year since the Parade first started, Buckingham YFC members took the decision this year to pull their vintage tractor and trailer float along the parade route, to raise money for charity. The float weighed over 1 ton, which proved a stern test up the hill on Bridge Street outside The Three Cups! Despite some sore arms and legs, the challenge was successfully completed, without the use of the engine - proved by the fact that at the end of the parade, the tractor had to be bump started!

Over £100 was raised on the day and will be donated to Brain Tumour Research, a charity close to the club's heart, after a former Buckingham YFC member and continuing supporter of the club was diagnosed with the illness.

Buckingham YFC chairman Tom Wing commented "The club wanted to do something to help and the Christmas Parade was the perfect opportunity to increase awareness of such a worthy charity and raise some much needed funds to support Brain Tumour Research's valuable work fighting this illness."

Brain Tumour Research represents the group of Brain Tumour Research charities and works to raise money to fund the prevention and treatment of brain tumours, as well as ultimately finding a cure.

The fundraising effort was part of the club's annual activities, with this year's fundraising events also including a New Years' Eve Ball at Towcester Racecourse, to raise money for the Thames Valley & Chiltern Air Ambulance. For more information on the ball, please click here.

Being a rural youth organisation, on top of organising and running fundraising events, Buckingham YFC members take part in many other activities, including learning rural skills, playing sports and attending social events, in-line with the core values of the organisation - "Fun, Learning and Achievement".
